Care Questions

Residential Care offers live-in accommodation with 24-hour supervision for those needing additional help and support with personal care or mobility. Nursing Care also provides 24-hour care and support, but with the key difference of having a registered nurse available around the clock to deliver medical care.

Our care plans are customised to meet the unique needs of each individual and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain aligned with residents’ evolving requirements. Recognising that health and wellbeing needs may change over time, our care is designed to be flexible and adaptable. We collaborate closely with residents and their families to develop personalised care plans that best suit their preferences and circumstances.

Indeed, Oakbank Care Home undergoes regular inspections by the Care Quality Commission to ensure that our facility consistently upholds a high standard of care across all aspects of the home.

We are dedicated to supporting the overall wellbeing of our residents by providing excellent care that alleviates the daily stresses of personal care, mobility and medical needs. Our all-inclusive facilities and activities promote mental, physical and emotional health, allowing residents to socialise, learn new skills, gain new experiences and continue their hobbies regularly. We encourage our residents to live their lives the way they want to.

At Oakbank Care Home, we offer respite care tailored to individual needs. Before admission, we evaluate each person’s care requirements and determine the appropriate length of stay. Respite care is ideal for individuals recovering from an illness, injury, or operation who are not yet ready to resume normal activities. It is also a great option for full-time caregivers who need a well-deserved break.

Care during Covid-19 Questions

As of Wednesday, 14th September 2022, the guidance to wear a face mask when visiting a care home in Scotland has ended. Visitors are no longer required to wear masks when visiting loved ones. However, if you prefer to continue wearing a mask during your visits, you will be supported. There may also be times when the care home requests visitors to wear a mask, such as during an outbreak.

When transferring from the community or another care home, isolation is not required if the conditions at the originating care home or interim care facility are known.

Symptomatic Residents or Close Contacts: If a resident shows symptoms or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, they should isolate and take two LFT tests on day 0 and day 2. Isolation can end after two negative tests.

Positive Test in the Home: If a resident tests positive for COVID-19, they must isolate for 5 days. They can return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature without using paracetamol.

Avoiding Contact: Residents who test positive should avoid contact with others eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days following a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.

In the event of an outbreak, we may conduct risk assessments to manage various aspects, including visiting arrangements, admissions and the use of communal areas. These measures are in place for a specified period to ensure everyone’s safety. We collaborate closely with local and national agencies, adhering to local agreements and guidelines.

  • Regular Updates: We regularly review and communicate procedural guidance across the company.
  • Accessible Information: We provide clear and accessible information to keep staff, visitors and residents well-informed, including preventive measures and steps to take if someone becomes infected.

Finance Questions

Upon the date of death, all fees outlined in the Care Agreement will cease. Accommodation charges will continue to be covered for up to ten days from the date of death until the resident’s personal belongings are removed from the home.

There are various methods for covering care home fees. If an individual is assessed as having eligible care needs and limited financial resources, the local authority may fund all or part of their care home fees, based on their means.

Individuals with complex healthcare needs requiring full-time nursing care may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding. This funding covers the total cost of care, including accommodation and personal care.

Those with sufficient income, savings, or assets may be responsible for paying their care home fees themselves. Additionally, family members may choose to contribute to the cost of care. Payment for care home fees can come from a combination of sources, such as local authority funding and self-funding.

Your weekly care home fees at Oakbank Care Home encompass various amenities and services, including accommodation, all meals, snacks and beverages, as well as participation in activities, use of in-house facilities, and local excursions (additional charges may apply in some cases). Additionally, all necessary care and support are covered within your weekly fees. However, certain medical services such as dental care or chiropody may incur extra charges. While we strive to accommodate all resident requests, some may involve additional fees. For further details, please reach out to our team.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, we are here to help. We can explore different finance options or consider relocating you to a smaller suite within the home. Please speak to our team to discuss how we can support you.

If your care home fees exceed the amount your local council is willing to pay, a third party, such as a family member, can cover the difference between the council’s contribution and the care home’s fee.

In Scotland, care home fees are determined based on an individual’s income and assets, following the principle of ‘fair and affordable contributions’ established by the Scottish Government. This assessment process considers a person’s income, savings and capital assets, such as property and investments.

The contribution expected towards care home fees is calculated based on these factors. If an individual’s income and assets fall below a certain threshold, they may qualify for financial assistance from the Scottish Government, which can cover some or all of the care home fees or provide a contribution towards them.

For more information, please contact our team.

Fees are reviewed annually, with any changes communicated at least 4 weeks in advance of taking effect. The current fee adjustment takes place in April each year. For more information, please contact us.

Rooms & Suites Questions

We encourage all residents to personalise their rooms by bringing their own furniture or personal items. Adding cherished belongings like photographs, decorations and small pieces of furniture can transform their space and make it feel truly their own. It’s these personal touches that can truly enhance the comfort and familiarity of their room.

Our care home offers exceptional bedrooms and en-suites, featuring a selection of contemporary single rooms with en-suite facilities. Residents can personalise their rooms with their own items and furnishings, creating a comfortable and familiar environment.
