Knitting For Kindness

At Oakbank Care Home, creativity and compassion came together this winter with a heartfelt project to support Social Bite - a charity and social enterprise dedicated to ending homelessness in Scotland. The organisation provides housing, employment, food, and vital support to empower people to rebuild their lives.
Throughout October and November, Oakbank residents joined forces for a meaningful cause, gathering weekly for our popular knit and natter sessions. Using the care home’s knitting machine and plenty of enthusiasm, the residents worked diligently to create a collection of warm hats for Social Bite’s outreach in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Each hat was lovingly made with the hope of bringing comfort and warmth to those facing harsh winter conditions. Just in time for the winter, the finished items were carefully packaged and sent off to Social Bite, who responded with a touching thank-you letter expressing their appreciation.
The Oakbank community was extremely proud to contribute to such an inspiring initiative — proof that small acts of kindness, when shared, can truly make a big difference.
