Crieff has been established for some time, since 1690 where River Earn was bridged. Crieff become the site of Scotland’s first public lending library and the town’s growth and wealth stemmed from it’s great communication links both to the Highlands and the Lowlands. By 1700 herds of Highland cattle from across Western and Northern Scotland were driven along the roads towards the cattle markets or trysts within Crieff. From then, each year up to 30,000 cattle arrived on foot for sale within the town.
Today, Crieff is modernised and visitors can find a lovely, busy and prosperous town where you can find a selection of accommodation, shopping centres, restaurants, other attractions and more.
