Crieff has a history dating back several hundred years, since 1690, when the River Earn was bridged. Crieff became the site of Scotland’s first public lending library and the town’s growth and wealth stemmed from its great communication links both to the Highlands and the Lowlands. By 1700, herds of Highland cattle from across Western and Northern Scotland were driven along the roads towards the cattle markets or trysts within Crieff. From then, each year up to 30,000 cattle arrived on foot for sale within the town.

From Perth by vehicle, you can reach us in around 30 minutes via the A85 to Crieff. If you’re using public transport to reach us from Perth, the 15 bus from Perth bus station to Ramsay Street, where we’re a 3 minute walk away, is often the fastest route.
To drive to Oakbank Care Home from Comrie, the best route is using the A85 to Crieff. Alternatively, take the 15 bus from Comrie Library to Crieff Hill Street in around 20 minutes, then we’re a 6 minute walk away.
When driving to Oakbank from Auchterarder, follow the B8062 to Crieff. Visitors using public transport are advised to travel via Perth.
