‘Go For Gold’ Games Competition!
Everyone’s a winner at Oakbank Care Home!
To celebrate the Paris Olympics, our team got involved in friendly competition at our ‘Go For Gold’ games.
Avid followers will know that some of our sister homes get involved in a yearly games competition. This year, we decided to go the extra mile and make it Olympic-themed.
Olympic Fever at Oakbank
Each home had to come up with a team outfit, a poster, and a team name. We wanted to show some team spirit for the games!
Our residents loved getting involved with the preparation and making outfits. Olympic athletes usually get four years to train, but we were able to pack in our warmups in just a few days.
For our Opening Ceremony, we swapped Celine Dion on the Eiffel Tower for some seniors on level ground. However, we still had just as much fun. We could sense some care home pride as the teams kicked off events!
The Games
Each home entered a team of three residents. Each home plays the same four games and the final score is submitted. The home with the highest score wins.
The results are given at the award ceremony on the 22nd of August - so stay tuned for our medal placements!
Flying the Flag for Oakbank
We had so much fun representing our Republic of Oakbank Care Home! It’s not the winning that counts but the taking part. Our games have been a fantastic and inclusive way to get our residents excited about the Olympics and daily life at our home.
Flower Power
Oakbank Care Home is also a part of the Crieff Care Home coffee mornings. We meet once a month at each other homes for a chat and a cup of tea. This year we decided to do a joint well-being challenge during our coffee morning.
To demonstrate the team spirit of the Olympics we worked together to create an amazing laurel wreath. This was another fun activity that got residents working on their brains and motor skills, boosting skills.
Our Activity Diary
