Spooky Fun at Our Halloween Celebration

Oakbank Care Home celebrated Halloween with a festive visit from Ardvreck Nursery children

Our Halloween celebration at Oakbank Care Home was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and a touch of spooky fun, thanks to a special visit from the children of Ardvreck Nursery. The young visitors arrived dressed in delightful costumes, bringing smiles and a festive energy to the home.

The children took part in traditional guising, delighting our residents and staff with jokes and songs in exchange for a sweetie or two. It was lovely to see residents’ faces light up as they handed out sweets and enjoyed the children's lively performances.

After the games, everyone gathered for a spooky-themed lunch that had both young and old smiling. Neil, our talented chef, prepared a playful spread, including “worms in blood” (spaghetti in tomato sauce) and ghost-shaped sandwiches, while the children eagerly tucked into apple and cinnamon “mummies” and pumpkin cookies for dessert.

Our Head Chef, Kamil, led a pumpkin-carving masterclass, guiding residents in creating their own spooky designs—and it's a lot easier to carve a pumpkin than it is to carve a turnip! Many of our residents joined in, showing impressive carving skills and creativity, and the results were proudly displayed around the home.
