Oakbank’s First Christmas Fayre

Oakbank Care Home Festive Christmas Fayre

On the 30th of November, we were delighted to hold our very first Christmas fayre here at Oakbank. The reception area was transformed into a cosy festive market as we welcomed residents, their families, friends, and members of the local community.

The highlight of the day was the wonderful ladies from the Comrie Choir, who treated us to some beautiful carols. Their singing had us all humming along and feeling the festive spirit—it really brought that Christmas magic to life. It was such a joy to see everyone together, sharing a laugh, catching up with old friends, and raising a glass (or two!) of mulled wine.

This wasn’t just a chance to celebrate the season—it was also a great way to raise funds for our residents’ comfort fund. Since August, our residents and staff have been hard at work preparing for the big day. There’s been a real buzz about the home, with everyone pitching in to make decorations, crafts including our bobble hats, and other items to sell on the stalls. Residents helped set up the fayre, manned the tables, and even decided on the prices for their creations. The staff went above and beyond too—some came in on their days off and even brought along their families to lend a hand. It was lovely to see everyone pulling together, and the teamwork and effort really shone through.

On the day, the reception was alive with chatter and laughter, as visitors browsed the handmade gifts and enjoyed some festive treats. The mince pies went down a storm, and we hear the mulled wine was absolutely delicious!

We’re over the moon to share that we raised just over £1,100—and there’s still more being added to the total! The support we received from everyone who attended means the world to us. It’s a reminder of how special the Oakbank community is, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported, or helped in any way. You made our first Christmas fayre a day to remember, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
